Gatekeeper

Q -What is Gatekeeper ? - Gatekeeper is a plugin that allows you to maintain a list of 'blessed' wizard/operators and god/owners. Anyone who is not 'blessed' cannot 'wiz up' even if they have the password.

Q -How do I get Gatekeeper installed on my palace ? - Go to the User Utility Page and select Plugins.

When you select the Plug-ins link, you will be presented with a list of the available plugins and an explanation of what they do. Click on the check box next to Gatekeeper so that it is checked and then hit the Submit button to commit the changes.

After Gatekeeper has been submitted on the User Utility Page, shutdown and restart your palace. Gatekeeper is now installed on your palace but is deactivated, until you start the process of 'blessing' your wizard/operators and god/owners.

Q -What should I do first ? - The first step in configuring gatekeeper is to 'bless' yourself. In order to 'bless' yourself....

  • Log onto your palace and god up
  • Open the user list and select (single click) your own name. You are now whispering to yourself
  • Type 'gatekeeper bless.
You should see a notice in the log like *** .... has been blessed.

Once you have done this first 'bless' command, Gatekeeper is automatically activated and noone who has not been 'blessed' will be able to 'wiz up'.

Q -How do I 'bless' someone else ? - Use the same method you used to 'bless' yourself.

  • Log onto your palace and god up
  • Arrange to met your wizard/operators and god/owners on your palace so that you can 'bless' them
  • Open the user list and select (single click) their name. You are now whispering to them
  • Type 'gatekeeper bless.
As before - you should see a notice in the log like *** .... has been blessed.

Note: Gatekeeper keeps track of who is blessed by PUID - not name. Therefore if you have any wizard/operators or god/operators that log on from more than one computer, you will have to 'bless' them once on each computer they want to 'wiz up' from.

Q -How do I get a list of 'blessed' people ? - At any time you can type 'gatekeeper list to get a list of the people who are 'blessed'.

The list of 'blessed' people will look something like this.....
*** ; {EXXXXX} Hank
The code in brackets next to each name on the 'blessed' list is that persons 'PUID hash' and it identifies them by the computer they use to log onto your palace from/

Q - How do I 'unbless' someone ? - The most reliable method to 'unbless' someone is by PUID hash.

First use the 'gatekeeper list command to get the PUID hash of the person you want to 'unbless'

Then type 'gatekeeper unbless PUID - substituting their PUID hash
Example'gatekeeper unbless EXXXXX
You should see a notice in the log like *** .... has been unblessed
