Q -What is the prop file and what does it do ?

First a little background information - This is important - so make sure you understand it.

The server prop file

The server prop file resides on the palace server at Chatserve. It contains a copy of every prop the server has " seen ". It stores a copy of every prop someone wears and any props they toss around with scripts. Any prop - even if it's only seen once - is recorded in the server prop file.

For each prop, the server records the prop itself, the name of the prop, the prop serial number and the last time the prop was " seen ".

If you watch the server prop file over time, it continuously grows in size - logging all the props it sees.

Note: The serial number for each prop is supposed to be unique - meaning no two props have the same serial number. In reality - duplications do occur - but they are rare.

The client prop file

The client prop file lives on your home computer. It contains a copy of the props you see when you open your prop bag, plus a copy of every prop your client has " seen ".

This is an important thing to understand. Even though you only see a small number of props when you open your prop bag, the client prop bag actually has a copy of every prop you have " seen ".

Just like the server prop file, if you watch the client prop file over time, it continuously grows in size - logging all the props it sees. You don't see any more props when you open your prop bag, but the new props are being added to the client prop file just the same.
